Predictive maintenance objective is to understand the right time to do maintenance, avoiding failures (reactive maintenance approach) or unnecessary maintenance (preventive maintenance approach).


Deviations from healthy conditions can then be determined in working conditions, using input data to estimate expected indicators levels (plant model) and then comparing them with actual indicators intensities. The approach can be extended to estimate the remaining useful life.
